This chair is so practical in every way, and it's extremely attractive. It is compact, easy to clean, sturdy, inclusive for baby at the dinner table, easy to assemble, supportive, and just so easy to use. The OXO design team thought of everything when they made this chair. It also grows with your baby and I can see it being useful for 5-6 years if we have multiple kids.
At first I thought I wanted a Stokke because I liked the idea of having my child eat at the table with us. However, after researching potential safety issues if you don't use it properly, and seeing the total price for the chair with all the necessary infant parts, I decided it was just too complex for my already too complex life even if it makes you feel like a progressive parent with a European ethos.
Enter the OXO Sprout. America at its best. I've never seen such an expensive baby item that is so highly rated on Amazon, and there's a reason: It's basically perfect. If you don't buy it and opt for something cheaper, you'll always wish you'd sprung for a Sprout. If you spend too much on a Stokke, you'll always try to over-intellectualize your decision but deep down you'll know you should have gotten the Sprout and accepted your inner American pragmatism.
Don't over-think this decision on price point or philosophy. Buy the Sprout and love it without regret.

We purchased OXO Tot Sprout Chair a few weeks ago. We were really excited about the purchase and although it was a splurge ($250 for a high chair is not cheap!) we thought we would get years of use out of it for our first baby and hopefully for any future babies. Unfortunately, I dont think this will be the case. The tray of the chair is already discolored!! I could not believe it. I ALWAYS wash the tray immediately after a feeding with hot, soapy water (as instructed by manufacturer). My little guy just started solids, he only eats twice a day and I spoon feed him (not as messy as if he were feeding himself). This means the chair has literally been used less than 25 times! It's absolutely ridiculous that the tray is discolored already and wasn't able to hold up to two weeks of use! This is obviously some sort of defect with the tray. I have contacted the manufacturer and will update my review once I receive more information from them. I would hope they would replace the tray. I would be very hesitant to spend this kind of money on a high chair that is such terrible quality. I regret my purchase and wish I would have bought the Stokke Tripp Trapp.
UPDATE: I contacted customer service about the discoloration and their response was to continue washing it and over time, it should fade. I couldn't believe how ridiculous and unhelpful this response was. I was able to get some of the discoloration out using baking soda. But, of course, I dont have time to do this regularly. I have a new problem now, the inside of the tray seems to be taking on water and I am unable to get it out. I am disgusted at the idea of old, stale water sitting inside the tray my baby eats off. I plan to contact customer service again but based on their unhelpful response before, I am not hopeful. I am definitely NOT SATISFIED with my purchase.
